Utterance 691 — The Coming Forth

R.O. Faulkner / E.A. Wallis Budge (composite, abridged) · Public domain / scholarly composite. Reproduced for educational and religious commentary.

1I have come from the Isle of Fire. My belly is filled with truth, the goodly truth of the god.

2I have eaten knowledge. I have eaten majesty. I have eaten the sceptres. I have eaten the years.

3I am the lord of years. I am the begetter of years. I am the destroyer of years. I am the eternal.

4I rise as Khepri at dawn. I am Ra at noon. I am Atum at evening. I am the god of the Two Lands.

5I have not died. I do not die. The fire does not consume me. The water does not drown me. The sword does not cut me. My bones are iron; my limbs are gold. I cannot perish.

6I sit on the throne of the imperishable ones. I am one of you, O gods. The going forth is mine. The coming back is mine. I have entered as a falcon. I have come forth as a phoenix. The doors of the horizon open before me.

7Make way, you of the West. Make way, you of the East. The King has come. The King passes by. The King takes his seat in the sky.
