The passwords and the toll-keepers

James said, Rabbi, when I have come, in what way will I escape them? Many are they who arm themselves against me.
The Lord said, James, when you come, do not say to them, "I am yours," but say, "I am from the Father who is from the beginning, and a son in the Father who is the firstborn before all ages." When they ask you, "Whose son are you?", say, "I am the son of the Pre-Existent." When they ask, "What kind of son?", say, "From the Pre-Existent, that I might be in those who pre-exist."
When they ask, "Where will you go?", say, "I shall go to the place from which I came, there I shall return." If you reply in that manner, you will pass them by. But they will pursue you. The first of these powers, who has authority — Adonaios, who is over the rebellion — flee from him.
When they say, "What kind are you?", say, "I am from the seed of the Father." When they say, "Of what seed?", say, "Of the seed which gives the gnosis."
James said, Rabbi, those who are of these powers — what passwords will they hear from your followers? The Lord said, James, when they look at you and they say, "Where will you go?", say, "To the place from which I came." On hearing this, they will be confounded.
James said, Rabbi, who are the seven women who have been your disciples? Behold, all women bless you. The Lord said, You speak well concerning them; though they are vessels of the female, they have come to know whence they are.
I appeared from this place that I might reveal the One who pre-existed. And I shall reveal you to those who shall hear me. They are the ones who have been mocked by twelve men. And there is great salvation in coming forth from among them.
