Spell 175 — The Eternal — When all has returned
R.O. Faulkner / E.A. Wallis Budge (composite, abridged) · Public domain / scholarly composite. Reproduced for educational and religious commentary.
A spell for not dying a second death — for being eternal in the West.
O Atum — what does it mean that I have to travel into the desert, the land of silence — which has no water, has no air, which is so deep, so dark, so endless?
Atum says: You will live there in peace of heart. There is no water, no air; but it is deep, dark, and endless. There you shall live.
O Atum — what is its lifetime?
Atum says: Its lifetime is millions of millions — a lifetime of millions. I shall destroy all that I have made. The land shall return into the Nun, into the floodwaters, as it was at the beginning.
I shall be what remains, together with Osiris — having transformed myself into other shapes, other serpents which men do not know and the gods do not see.
How great is the goodness which I have done for Osiris, distinguishing him beyond all the gods. I have given him the underworld. His son Horus is upon his throne. He is the heir of the Island of Fire. I have made him a place to be in: the Boat of Millions of Years.
Horus stands firm upon his seat. The funeral monument of Osiris is established. To him belongs eternity.
O Osiris N — your name endures. Your soul lives. Your body is firm. You shall not be turned back from the gates of the Duat. You shall not be repelled at the gates of heaven. You shall be among the imperishable stars. You shall be eternal.
