Ode 38 — the truth and the bridegroom
James H. Charlesworth / J.R. Harris (composite, selections) · Public domain / scholarly composite. Reproduced for educational and religious commentary.
1I went up into the light of truth as in a chariot. And the truth led me and brought me. He set me on the way, and made me to pass over abysses and gulfs, and saved me from cliffs and from waves.
2And he became to me a haven of salvation, and set me on the place of immortal life. And he went with me, and made me at peace, and never left me alone.
3And because he is mine, I gave him my faith, that he might know me. He drew his light over my head; he placed me upon his knees; he sealed my face with his own face. He took the cup; he gave it to me to drink.
4And I have dwelt in him, and have been at rest in him. He filled me with the everlasting waters, and I drank from him.
5Hallelujah.
